Recently I received an email that said I was receiving an electronic remittance with a link that ended with an htm. See the photo below where it says “attachments.”

I could have clicked on the attachment and let any one of my virus protection programs block it, but I chose to do something different.

I decided to put the email address into Google and see what came up.

Here is what I found:
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (.gov)
https://www.fdic.gov › consumers › consumer-news

The first clue that it is a scam is that they send you a cashier’s check for an amount that is higher than your asking price.

The other clue is that I was not selling anything. There is no reason for someone to send me a remittance.

Please be alert and cautious with your emails. Not everything gets caught in your spam folder.

To Your Prosperity,

Rennie
