With the current Covid-19 pandemic millions of workers will not be getting a paycheck.

For folks like me, or an attorney, CPA, or some other professional, we can do our work online and still earn a living. Even if it is less than usual, some money is still coming in to pay for groceries, rent or mortgage, utilities and more.

You might be like many others who have had their income vanish. If so the following information may be of value. And if you have already been doing online work, you might already be familiar with some of these resources.

The following are platforms where you can do freelance work depending on your skill level:

Tutoring – Check out Wyzant, Varsity Tutors and Chelsea International

Teaching English – Chinese children use platforms like VIPKid, Qkids, and Magic Ears to learn after school. There are more English speakers in China than in the rest of the world. Just be aware of the time difference.

Writing – Visit Contently, Skyword and Cracked to see if what they want is a fit for what you want to do and if the compensation is worthwhile.

Editing – If you know the AP Style or the Chicago Manual of Style you could edit for self-publishing authors. My book publishing company was in California, and for years I used someone in Ohio for editing. This one person edited about 60 of the books we published that had bookstore distribution.

Virtual Assistant – You may already have one of these, or can be one of these. Depending on your technical or social media skills this could allow for flexibility and a decent hourly rate.

Professional services – If you are skilled at marketing, business development, web design and so on, you can market your availability through FreeUp, Fiverr, SkipTheDrive, FlexJobs or FlexProfessionals.

You can use www.glassdoor.com to see what other freelance people have to say about the different online platforms. Here is the description from Google: Glassdoor is a website where current and former employees anonymously review companies.

Please let me know if this supports you.

To Your Prosperity,

Rennie
